Autodesk recommends the latest version of the following web browsers for access to online supplemental content:

  • 64-bit Intel® or AMD® multi-core processor with SSE4.2 instruction set
    Apple Mac models with M series chip are supported under Rosetta 2 mode – Ozone does NOT support

Graphics Hardware

    Maya Certified Hardware

RAM

  • 8 GB of RAM (16 GB or more recommended)

Disk Space

  • 7 GB of free disk space for install

Installing Autodesk/Maya

  1. Go to AutoDesk Maya
    1. Requires a licensed account
  2. Select the year 2023
  3. Select your respective OS (operating system)
  4. Ensure your respective language is selected
  5. Click “Install”
  1. Ensure that you installed Maya 2023 with the “pyMel” component selected (When you install Maya 2023, select it during the installation process).
  2. Complete the installation process

Mgear Instructions

MGear Plugin is mainly used when animating avars (face/mouth animation).  Not absolutely necessary for our ozone plugin but it is beneficial for the controllers.

  1. Download and install “mgear4” plugin for Maya:
  2. Download link:  https://github.com/mgear-dev/mgear4/archive/refs/heads/master.zip
  3. Web: https://github.com/mgear-dev/mgear4
  4. Open up Maya after downloading the Mgear zip
  5. Extract All
  6. Open Maya 2023 with an empty scene, and drag the file “drag_n_drop_install.py” (which is inside “mgear4-master” folder) to Maya 2023 window, for example to the Maya 2023 viewport.
  7. An installation window should appear, follow the steps from that window.

Ozone 4D Instructions

Our 4D Ozone plugin contains some of the new features that we want to showcase for our siggraph submission. The new features we plan to showcase are (Weighting, Sculpting, & Fitting)

  1. Grab the latest version of our 4D Ozone Plugin from AWS [Link]
  2. Proceed to where the folder was downloaded to
  3. Extract all of the contents of the folder > Extract
  4. Open up the folder “pyOzonePluginMaya”
  5. Now open up Maya 2023 for windows
  6. Select New
  7. Drag & drop the following file “drag_me_to_maya_viewport_to_install_ozone”
  8. You will receive the following window

Ozone Instructions

  1. Grab the latest version of our Ozone Plugin
    1. Currently, this is done internally by utilizing AWS [Link]
  2. Extract All Packages within the folder titled “ozone-maya-2023-plugin-windows”
  3. Once all of the files are extracted open up the newly created folder
  4. Open up ozone_maya2023
  5. Grab & copy all three files
    1. MayaOzonePlugin.mll
    2. ozone.pyd
    3. ozone_util.pyd
  6. Locate the folder in which Maya is installed
    1. Example:
      1. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2023\bin\plug-ins
    2. Within the plug-ins folder paste in the files mentioned above:
      1. MayaOzonePlugin.mll
      2. ozone.pyd
      3. ozone_util.pyd
  7. Open the Ozone by typing ozone-ce in the MEL command section

Activating Plug-ins within Maya

After downloading any plug-ins for maya, you will have to proceed into the Plug-in Manager to turn them Off or On.

  1. Within Maya expand Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager
  1. Within the search bar, type in
    1. ozone (for ozone plug-ins)
    2. mgear (for mgear plug-ins)
  2. Ensure that the following are checked off
    1. MayaOzonePlugin.mll
      1. Loaded | Auto Load
    2. ozone_plugin.py
      1. Loaded | Auto Load
